English for Business Instructor Rico Tudor
Rico has been teaching ESL and Business related ESL in Hawaii for over 5 years at Kapiolani Community College and language schools in Hawaii. Prior to this, Rico has been successful in business as a sales manager overseeing a force of 120 representatives in a chemical company and serving as vice president and president of an international provider of chemicals used in the steel and automotive industries. Besides teaching, Rico has an acting career and has been seen in Lost, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and many live and film productions on Oahu.  Rico has an undergraduate degree from Harvard University and a MA in Public Administration from the University of Rhode Island. He has taken doctoral courses at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public and International Affairs. He is fluent in both Japanese and Italian. Ellen
Director of Cambridge Programs

With certifications in both TEFL and Teacher Training along with a BA in English, Ellen has had teaching experience and leadership roles on three continents. She has taught ESL in Budapest Hungary, near Hanoi, Vietnam, Montreal and Vancouver, Canada and the Czech Republic. In Montreal, Ellen developed curriculum targeted for native Iniut speaking high school students and in Cheb, in the Czech Republic, served as Head Teacher, developing curriculum, selecting texts, and training staff. In Hawaii, she has prepared the certification documents for another language school, and here at ICC, manages the Cambridge course and testing program. Sandra
Director of Studies/TOEIC Coordinator
Beginning as an “Interchanger” conversation partner for the NICE program and as a volunteer writing tutor while earning her BA in TESL and Asian Studies at the University of Hawaii, Sandy has been a teacher throughout her professional life.  She designed and taught conversation classes at an English school in Saga Prefecture, Japan giving private and group lessons to adults.  While in Japan she appeared on TV where she provided voicing and English pronunciation practice to viewers and used her Japanese language skills in translation and editing. Sandra has been teaching at ICC for 14 years and enjoys teaching students with “a mixture of cultures, personalities, occupations, and reasons for coming here to study.” She is currently teaching the TOEIC preparation course, organizes a weekly conversation practice at “Talk Story Time,” and leads students on a variety of activities around Oahu.
TOEIC Class Dave
English for Communications Instructor
A native of upstate New York, Dave’s ESL experience has spanned almost thirty years and encompasses teaching in China, Japan, and Mexico. His experience in Japan also includes serving as a tour guide, an interpreter, and a cross-cultural director. With a BA in East Asian Studies from the University of Washington, and an MA in Japanese Literature from the University of Hawaii, he has taught Japanese conversation at the University of Hawaii, Chaminade University and Kapiolani Community College.  Dave has two MAs, one in English from the School for International Training and another in Japanese Literature from the University of Hawaii.  At Cornell University he studied in the MBA program. He is fluent in Japanese, and also speaks some Chinese and Spanish. Dave says that the “atmosphere of ohana (family)” has kept him teaching at ICC Hawaii for eleven years.
Tad Matsunaga Tad

Prior to joining ICC, Tad had 10 years of experience in teaching ESL in and around Kobe, Japan where he taught English to all ages (pre-school to seniors) and all levels.  He taught in an International school, area churches, junior and senior high schools and a trade school.  Tad earned a MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Biola University. His thesis “Contrastive Rhetoric and Japanese English Students’ Expository Writing Style” which explores cultural differences in writing styles and their implications for ESL teachers is available through the ERIC Clearinghouse. Tad enjoys working at ICC because “we have the best students from around the world, who are earnest and really want to study English.” Benjamin

Successful ICC Students Thank you Emiri and Akari!
Everybody in Tads class had to make a menu for a restaurant opening. Natania was the judge and pick WYPYCE as the winner because they have happy hour! ;) 3 wonderfully created menus from tads class! They all sound very delicious! The swiss restaurant called Matterhorn will open soon, hopefully!
Natania also loved the shrimp restaurant!
